My wife has had two cat scans in the last few months with another due in two weeks, I am so glad we have the national health service after reading those costs!

I call up the billing department ranting and raving about this. Come to find out.... it's my copay. Seventy-five dollars a day for seven days. And a bargain at that, since I would have died. Umm... nebber mind :) Seriously, though, that's a kind of scary glimpse of medical costs. That's just the bill for the stay and doesn't include emergency room visit, the dozens of blood draws and lab tests, the three CAT scans, the Xrays, the heparin or the morphine.... Since a CAT scan runs about $5000 a pop the whole thing would have been about $40k I guess not 15 as I previously guessed.
