Odd indeed. There's not much there to confuse it. I know with older
versions of some browsers, most notably Netscape, that a TD wouldn't
inherit a font size declared for the body.

If you add a "td {font-size:8pt;} rule, does that help? For
compatibility reasons, I've often set a rule of body, td {font:
whatever;}.
