I lived in Paris for a couple of years. A good bit of it in different
friends' apartments.

My parents lived in the 16th arrondissement off Avenue Foch. The McD's
I was thinking of was on the Champs-Elysees and was quite the thing at
the time, especially at the private school I went to eight or nine
blocks away. Then we moved to a little town just outside Chantilly
(yes, lace, and a chateau too) and I came in from time to time to
visit friends, in particular a guy I met while I was in Geneva. They
lived over near the site of the old Bastille. I eventually left home
and lived in various apartments in Paris with different friends. I
can't quite remember where all of them are, but let's see, one was up
near Montmartre, another was somewhere in the 17th I think, on one of
the boulevards. I remember that the nearest cafe was run by arabs and
was a bit disreputable.

There was a cafe in the 20th that had a couple of rooms above
it...great place to sip a pastis, with a spreading tree out front. I
spent a lot of time walking around the Latin Quarter. It was cool at
the time to hang out at the fountain at Boul'Mich though becoming a
bit of a cliche even then. I used to hand out flyers for a theater in
the area, and wanted all through the Sorbonne putting them up... I
also had a book about "forgotten Paris" or something of the kind and
walked around finding all the places in it. Also spent a lot of time
looking at Notre-Dame and at the book stalls along the river. I
understand there is a highway there now?

Anyways. I have been most places in Paris at some point, at least on
the Metro. Took that circular line around Paris a couple of times, for
the hell of it. Oh yeah, and my boyfriend did deliveries and I rode
with him quite often, so I got to see a lot of the city.
