In fact I didn't even test before posting here because I wouldn't have assumed it would work like that. I assume that it's the client that only uses the first or last object in the list since LDAP would return all possible values. I haven't been looking to see which order an OR is returned in the past, but that is not what I would expect as an answer back from the servers in a working configuration. I would expect that criteria to continue looking for all matches to the filter for each of the records it's looking at. Finding one and stopping is not what I would expect unless that's how the client is implementing it. Just curious here. al -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 12/15/2004 6:02 PM Subject: Re: [ActiveDir] Sequence LDAP query Sorry, I haven't met anyone on this list yet (except Steve Schofield who introduced me to the list). I've looked up your website and it looks like you have a great soluton. Too bad I didn't know about it a few months ago when researching which Spam solution to go with. I've figured it out. In fact it took just a simple test. The simple OR command against an indexed column actually works in order. If I run the following two tests: (|([EMAIL PROTECTED])([EMAIL PROTECTED])) (|([EMAIL PROTECTED])([EMAIL PROTECTED])) The first filter one will return the record for scott@ and the 2nd will return the record for nobody@ So, it actually searches in order starting from the end. This is exactly what I was looking for. Originally I assumed that it would just search all the records and the first that met either criteria would be returned so depending on what order it was entered into AD, I would get a different result. I assume for non-indexed fields, that might be the case because it would search them all one by one. But in the case of an indexed field, it sounds like MS/LDAP jumps right to the index, starting with the end of the query and moving forward. (mail is an indexed attribute) So, I believe I've overcome the last obstacle and am ready to finish implimenting. Thanks again! I'll start to work with AD a lot in the near future so I might start to hang out in this newsgroup now and may see more of you in the future. Sure, I'll explain more. I tried to keep it brief the first time so it didn't scare anyone off. :) I have a Barracuda Spam filter (www.barracudanetworks.com) and use iMail server on the mail end. (www.ipswitch.com). I've created a script that places all the iMail users and aliases into AD since the LDAP feature of iMail doesn't work with the number of users that we have. I need to be able to do is enable the LDAP feature on the Barracuda to query AD to see if an email address (either alias or POP account) is valid, and if it is valid it will find out the parent POP account and place any spam in the quarantine box for the POP accounts. The goal is that if there are multiple aliases pointing to a single POP account, there is only 1 quarantine box for all of them. This part I can do. Now, what I also need to be able to do is handle a catch-all email alias. (called a 'nobody' in iMail terms). In iMail, there is an alias called 'nobody' and it's always checked last in the order of operations, but if an alias doesn't exist and a POP account doesn't exist, then iMail will check for the nobody account to determine if it should sending to a catch-all account to reject the message. I need to be able to accomplish the same with the Barracuda. Barracuda support tells me that it isn't possible so my last option to make this happen is to use LDAP to overcome their short coming. The barracuda has the following fields: - LDAP username - LDAP password - LDAP Filter - LDAP Search Base So, really the only field that allows me any control is the LDAP Filter. If I could have a filter like Al suggested like this: (&(objectClass=user)(objectCategory=Person)(|([EMAIL PROTECTED])(mai l=no [EMAIL PROTECTED]))) but be sure that it will only check for the [EMAIL PROTECTED] if it couldn't find [EMAIL PROTECTED] I don't want to use the nobody account if there is a valid user or alias. But, I don't have any programming options. This has to all take place in the LDAP Filter field. The Sequence, <final> <last> LDAP commands seemed to me like a promising lead but I don't know LDAP except for what I've learned in the last few days. Thanks again! I'm trying to do an LDAP query that appears to be uncommon. LDAP is new to me in the last few days so I'm starting from the ground up. Basically I need a filter something like this: (if [EMAIL PROTECTED] elseif [EMAIL PROTECTED]) In other words, it shouldn't check to see if [EMAIL PROTECTED] unless it has already checked [EMAIL PROTECTED] I'll explain the same thing a different way. If [EMAIL PROTECTED] exists, it needs to get that object from AD. But, if [EMAIL PROTECTED] doesn't exist, then check again and see if [EMAIL PROTECTED] exists. I hope I explained this well enough. I'm limited with the client tool to just a search filter field. I don't have any programming options. I've found a link that gives me hope that it is possible: http://www.packetizer.com/rfc/rfc.cgi?num=1558 Note the SEQUENCE OF CHOICE, initial, any and final. That sounds like what I'm looking for. I just don't know how to format the filter. My current filter that works but doesn't do the 2nd part looks like this: (mail=${recipient_email}) Is this possible with LDAP? If you're interested, head over to: http://alia.org.au/alianet/e-lists/mailman.interface.html ..and have a dig around. In a very small nutshell, the pages there describe why we modified Mailman, and how we modified htmlformat.py and HTMLformatter.py to do most of the things we wanted. All is explained at the link above, and we've thrown in a couple of sample files where relevant. Still more to come, but nothing quite so major. Some words on installing non-RPM mailman on SuSE are also on the way - those, and some bash scripts we wrote to handle multiple-list-maintenance jobs, may come soon. A disclaimer or two, to go with it all: We arrived where we are via a couple of test servers, some intuitive guess work, some plain dumb luck and many cups of coffee. I'm no python programmer, so don't expect brilliance [it works... and we left it at that]. If any Python gurus can think of better ways to do what we did, please let us know! It may well be we've just mis-read the manual and made a lot of work for ourselves :-) Comments welcome, and apologies to a couple of interested people who have been waiting months for me to get this done. Cheers Adam. ------------------------------------------------------ Mailman-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/mailman-users Mailman FAQ: http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py Searchable Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/mailman-users%40python.org/ From jeff Thu Dec 16 04:11:34 2004 Return-Path: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Delivery-Date: Wed Dec 15 20:11:34 2004 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Envelope-to: [email protected] Delivery-date: Wed, 15 Dec 2004 20:11:34 -0800 Received: from exprod5mx62.postini.com ([64.18.0.175] helo=psmtp.com) by toko.jab.org with smtp (Exim 3.36 #1 (Debian)) id 1CemzG-0000yC-00 for <[email protected]>; Wed, 15 Dec 2004 20:11:34 -0800 Received: from source ([200.49.102.63]) by exprod5mx62.postini.com ([64.18.4.10]) with SMTP; Wed, 15 Dec 2004 20:14:15 PST Received: (qmail 8722 invoked by alias); 16 Dec 2004 03:18:35 -0000 Mailing-List: contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]; run by ezmlm X-Grippo: yes List-Post: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> List-Help: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> List-Unsubscribe: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> List-Subscribe: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> From: "Horoscopo de Internet Grippo" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Delivered-To: mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] Delivered-To: moderator for [EMAIL PROTECTED] Received: (qmail 28063 invoked by uid 501); 16 Dec 2004 03:01:02 -0000 Date: 16 Dec 2004 03:01:02 -0000 Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-type: text/html Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Subject: [sagitariodiario] 16-12-2004 X-pstn-levels: (S: 0.19092/96.17735 R:95.9108 P:95.9108 M:94.8624 C:98.9754 ) X-pstn-settings: 1 (0.1500:0.1500) gt3 gt2 gt1 r p m c X-pstn-addresses: from <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> forward (good recip) [294/10] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.64 (2004-01-11) on toko.jab.org X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-2.5 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,HTML_IMAGE_ONLY_06, HTML_MESSAGE,MIME_HTML_NO_CHARSET,MIME_HTML_ONLY autolearn=no version=2.64 <x-html>

Predicciones para SAGITARIO
Fecha: 16-12-2004

/----------------------------------------(publicidad)-----\

Participa en la loteria para vivir y trabajar en los EE.UU.

Click aqui

\----------------------------------------(publicidad)-----/

Predicciones de hoy para SAGITARIO:

El camino a recorrer muchas veces parece ser en cuesta hacia arriba. Yet, it is different from XMLEncoder/Decoder provided by JDK, which is tedious/unreadable in XML. CookXml/CookSwing/CookSwt intend to provide powerful yet concise representation of GUI (or whatever objects) in XML. I believe in writing a program that does well what it is supposed to do. I am not interested in a XUL that can be run anywhere; after all, Swing and SWT are portable themselves. If you are switching from Swing to SWT, or vice versa, tough luck with any XML toolkits. So, in the mean time, pick the one that provides the best use the GUI :) More @ http://cookxml.sourceforge.net Has anyone tried out CookSwing? To that end I have a brand new Seagate HD and a KingWin KH-350U-S 3.5" USB enclosure. FWIW, I'm running Mandrake linux with a 2.6.8.1-12mdk kernel. When I plug in the USB cable two messages are written to /var/log/syslog: Dec 15 21:14:13 osage kernel: usb 4-1: new high speed USB device using address 2 Dec 15 21:14:13 osage kernel: scsi0 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices With my USB memory stick these two lines are followed by Vendor and other info, but that doesn't happen with the USB enclosure. Loaded modules include: ehci-hcd, scsi_mod, uhci-hcd, usbcore, and usb-storage The enclosure/HD combo work on my kids' Win98 machine, which identifies the USB chipset manufacturer as Cypress. As a guess, Cypress is a non-supported chipset. Alternatively, I may have the wrong modules loaded. Any suggestions on how to learn more about what's going on and maybe even get it to work??? Thanks. everyone! I was just recently = diagnosed after years of problems as having a tumor; Dr. also = called it a adenoma, in my pituitary gland. Within the past 6 = months my problems had gotten worse. I was having extremely bad = headaches, I'm cold all the time, I have been gaining weight, I=92m = extremely tired, and have lost all interest in sex. No one could = tell me what was wrong; they kept blaming it on stress. Well when = I was in to see my OB/GYN I mentioned to him that I was still lactating = and hadn't been nursing for 6 months or longer. Long = story short after some blood work and an MRI he said I had a = tumor in my pituitary and wanted to start me on Bromocriptine = right away.

=
The confusing part for me is he said that this type of tumor would = not cause me to be cold, gain weight or some of the other symptoms I've = had. And yet other people have told me they heard it could. = I'm just curious if anyone here had the same problems. The weight = gain is really bothering me, I'm 25 and have 3 children. Our = youngest will be a year old in a few weeks. With the two older = boys I never had a problem losing the weight. I weigh more now = than I did when I had him almost a year ago. And just to let you = know, they did check my thyroid and said it was normal. =

I'm also curious = if anyone has or is using Bromocriptine and what they thought about = it.

Any advice = would be much appreciated. For example, the sever in Japan is now jaist for qgis while keihanna in Fink's sourceforge list. It seems Sourceforge has changed many mirrors, not just Japan, so can we have a newer list (/sw/lib/fink/mirror/sourceforge)? Lets forget discussions of performance of tuples vs. lists for a moment, performance issues associated with allowing for changing keys in dictionaries and consider the larger question. Q: Why do we have immutable data types? A: Abstraction, logical consistency and annoying theoretical computer science. Let us consider the Set type. Ignore for now the fact that it is basically a dictionary. We can all agree that a Set is an unordered collection of distinct objects. Similar to their theoretical counterparts we can add elements, remove elements and perform a variety of set arithmetic operations on sets. There is no theoretical set operation called "transmute" - that is, you can't mutate an element to something else. It isn't part of the model. You can remove an element and add another, but that isn't the same. This is probably a good thing, because if you allow mutation of elements withing a set, look at what can happen: Set A has A, B and C. Set B has C, D and E. The intersection of the two sets is a Set containing C. The cardinality of the sets (len) is the same. Now, lets "mutate" the B in Set A to C. First of all, A ceases to be a set, for we have the elements A C and C. Do we keep this non-set like set? Or do we remove the element? The first is out of the question; Set carries with it a definition that is borrowed from mathematics. Keeping the extra C around makes our object a collection, not a set, and should be called such. I, for one, don't want to use a purposefully misleading language. Perhaps we resolve our issue by defining the mutation of B to C to result in set A containing the elements A and C. This would still be a set, but there is another problem. We didn't *do* anything to Set A, but it changed in a fundamental manner. Because of a change in one place, the mutation of B, the cardinality of our set has suddenly changed without saying "remove B from Set A." That is a Bad Programming practice. Touching something in one place shouldn't break something else. The solution to this problem is to recognize that certain mathematical data-structures basically require the use of parameters that cannot be serendipitously changed. But why kowtow to mathematics at the expense of cool hack-ability? When you set your thoughts down to code, your writing serves two purposes. 1) Instruct the machine on your intent. 2) Argue to the reader the correctness of #1. Around here, we call #2 "self documenting code." Now, I've seen a lot of discussion of this on python-list. Frequently silly pieces of code such as (forgive me): flatten = sum list of strings = flatten( list of lists of strings ) are written and argued for in the name of self documenting code. Personally, I think that is the "This line adds 1 to X and assigns it to Y" variety of self documenting code. What is really meant by self documenting code is code that argues in a semi-rigorous sense for its own correctness. Programming is fundamentally an engineering discipline. It differs from the more physical engineering disciplines - the parts are all abstract mathematical entities, but their reliability as such is offset by the sheer complexity of the constructed machine. Much as a mechanical engineer might discuss a tie rod end or pressure vessel in the language of calculus and statics, a computer programmer really should wrap their discussion in the language of discrete mathematics and computational linguistics. A tuple has a specific mathematical meaning that admittedly differs somewhat depending on the context. Same for a Set, List and so forth. Cast your problem in terms of mathematics and keep your language's nomenclature and behavior similar to existing mathematical constructs. Doing this will afford you the opportunity to stand upon the shoulders of giants as you go about your work. And to properly stand upon those shoulders, we must match the theoetical models used. That means we need more, not fewer, inmutable counterparts to most of our datatypes. The government said it is the longest prison term ever handed down in a= computer crime case in the United States. Brian Salcedo of Whitmore Lake, Mich., pleaded guilty in August to= conspiracy and other hacking charges. Salcedo's sentence, imposed by U.S. District Judge Lacy Thornburg, exceeds= that given to the hacker Kevin Mitnick, who spent more than 5 1/2 years= behind bars, according to a Justice Department Web site that tracks= cyber-crime prosecutions. "I think the massive amount of potential loss that these defendants could= have imposed was astounding, so that's what caused us to seek a= substantial sentence against Mr. Salcedo," federal prosecutor Matthew= Martens said. Two other men are awaiting sentencing in the Lowe's case. One of them, Adam= Timmins, became one of the first people convicted of "wardriving," in= which hackers go around with an antenna, searching for vulnerable wireless= Internet connections. Prosecutors said the three men tapped into the wireless network of a Lowe's= store in Southfield, Mich., used that connection to enter the chain's= central computer system in North Wilkesboro, N.C., and installed a program= to capture credit card information. Lowe's officials said the men did not obtain any such information. The case was prosecuted in Charlotte because it is home to an FBI= cyber-crime task force. Actually I'd have suspected the rule is "needs one microframe delay", but that's just a guess. There should be no need for a delay at all! (Where a microframe == 125 usec, but statistically 100 or 110 usec will "usually" cover things...) - Dave > Ultimately we will need to find some other way to specify which devices > need the time delay and what the delay should be, since we know that one > size doesn't fit all and some non-Genesys devices also need the delay. > For now this will have to do. > ------------------------------------------------------- SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real users. That way it can connect you to the emergency operator for the area :) Interestingly most new phones will allow you to dial 112 even if the keypad is locked… -- Michael JasonSmith http://www.ldots.org/
