VNC can be very secure - set up the VNC listener with SSH, then be sure to connect to that port which you specified... of course, if you don't have SSH, you'll need the package, which you can get via RPM or apt-get if you're using some of the more popular *nix packages, although if you're using Windows as you destination PC, you should be able to set up a box which will act as an intermediary, accepting secure VNC connections and then... Oh forget it.
