On Thursday, January 6, 2005 six soldiers of the Louisiana National Guard and one of the New York National Guard were killed in Taji, Iraq. As proof of the small size of Louisiana, my wife Melissa grew up with the uncle of one of the soldiers killed. While we did not know any of the soldiers, were do know the family.
