I just recently used my router that I've had for several years. Great tool! You might want to put one on your wish list. I have yet to try any dovetail or other fancy-schmancy joining methods. Anoth invaluable tool I got last year was a pneumatic brad nailer. It was a pancake-compressor nail-gun package. So far I've remodelled the kitchen, built a table, and a built-in shelving/computer desk unit.
