Although I support anything which will improve the quality of life for those
kids affected by the war, two things irk me about this (neither of which
should stop anyone supporting it BTW)-

1. Why arent the schools being given supplies as part of the rebuilding
program, I would have thought that they would have been a priority after
basic services and hospitals?

2. Point 4 seems to suggest that terrorists/insurgents are lacking in
education, which is to be frank both laughable and potentially a dangerous
point of view for the military (i.e. underestimating their enemy).

Subject: Children of Baghdad - Operation Kids for Kids

Please check this out. I was almost a part of Task Force Thunder and these
men have a dear place in my heart.

LTC Jones has instituted an excellent program and one I am proud to support.
And remember "It's all about the kids."

Commander's Statement:

1. Purpose: The 1/141st FA BN (Task Force Thunder), Louisiana National
Guard, requests your participation in a program called Kids for Kids.

2. Task Force Thunder, assigned to the 256th BCT, is currently serving in
Baghdad, Iraq to support the war on terrorism. One of the Brigade's and
Battalion's missions is to assist the Iraqi people by restoring essential
services and improving their quality of life. One way we plan to accomplish
this mission is to help improve the local schools. The schools in the
Brigade's area of operations have sustained a large amount of damage from
the fighting that has occurred.

3. The Kids for Kids Program is a way that we hope to restore normalcy back
into the schools. In order to do this, we need your help. The schools,
more specifically the children, lack many simple supplies that they need to
function effectively in an academic environment. The children lack writing
supplies and a host of other things needed for school operations. The
teachers need these items to ensure that children have a better opportunity
to learn. Your participation in this program will assist us in positively
affecting the lives of many Iraqi children.

4. Your participation in this program will be your direct contribution to a
very tangible and positive part of the war on terrorism. If we can provide
a more conductive learning environment for the local children, they have a
better chance at a more productive future.

5. We hope that you will help us in making this program a success. You can
