Let me hazard a guess about the book. I haven't seen it our heard anything about it. I'll try to guess the contents anyway.
There is a new cutting edge technology that is mismanged by some power hungry person or group. As a result of this greediness, the world is in danger (or at least a group of innocent people who got caught up in events by an accident). Along comes a hero who just happens to solve the crises right in time. Is that close? If so, then it was an easy guess. About 70% of his books have this plot.
