For what it's worth I had two 20" Nokias on this desk. The desk was pulled out from the wall about 10" to allow the monitors to sit back as far as possible. With those the farthest you COULD put them back meant that about 8" went over the back (the bases were very broad). But each of those bad-boys was early 60 pounds - that was the real problem with them. Now I've got two 18" LCDs... pure heaven. ;^) For what it's worth LCD prices are plummeting as well - a good 15" LCD will give you about the same screen space as a 17" monitor and will probably run you less than the desk.
