> Is there a way to access a website set up in IIS on a window's 2000 server
by host-header before the DNS entry has been made?

Set it up in your hosts file on the client machine and point it to the
relevant IP address... All should work... Remember to remove it when the DNS
entries are in place so as to not mask any DNS errors...

The hosts file is located in one of two places...

For XP clients - C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc
For W2k clients - C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc

The entry should look like

aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd www.hostheader.com
