Think of a little bungalow - craftsman style, ya know? Now, take the roof on half of it, and bump it up with a dormer. Voila, half story. Okay, not really, though that is how my house is. A half-story is a second story that isn't full-height all the way to the walls. Basically, it's like an attic turned into living space. There's a million of em in these parts.
