I saw this article on one of the U.K. newspaper Web sites. Basically, in Germany now, prostitution is legal and brothels are treated as any other employer, so women on the dole can be told to accept a job at a brothel or lose their government benefits.
I'm not a huge moralist and I generally believe in a live and let live philosophy, but this kind of stuff is why so many Americans look at Europe and just think to themselves, "What a screwed up mess they have for a society." Realistically, women don't have to accept the job, so it isn't exactly forced prostitution, but wielding government benefits as a carrot/stick to push them into prostitution is just plain wrong.
