I wonder what would happen if you completely left race out of it and
just used odd names:

Sequoia
Nevaeh
Alamea
Kai

I bet you'd get the same reaction.  And I bet you'd get it from
blacks, whites, Asians, etc.  People have a preference for their own
culture, it makes them more comfortable.  Is that racism or just a
harmless preference?

For example, we had some Europeans bidding on something once and many
of my colleagues wanted to throw out their bid because, "they're so
hard to communicate with."  That's not racism, just a preference.
