I used rechargeable batteries for a while in the Flash for my camera, it
took 4 AA. After the first 3 or 4 charges I would only get about 14-20
minutes of usage out of them.

I finally broke down and determined that the best way to go was to buy a 24
pack of AA Rayovac batteries for about $8.00 when I needed it. Lasted
longer, and worked better.

I used Ni-Cad, Ni-MH, and Alkaline rechargeable batteries, all with the same
end. Some of the new Ni-MH work a lot better than the old ones do, but I
still had the same problem, after the first few flashes, the cycle time went
through the roof.

What I finally did was buy a nice external battery pack for the flash, lasts
about 1000 flashes at 3/4 power.
