In Maryland this is called the stet docket. The couple of times I went
to traffic court though they started the session by saying look, as
far as we are concerned the radar guns are accurate, so we don't want
to hear about 90 mph trees.

The other suggestion I have though that may be helpful to someone is
that if you are clearly guilty there is sometimes an option to plead
guilty with an explanation. I once used this on a speeding ticket back
in my misspent youth, saying that I was used to driving a stick-shift
Honda Civic but I had borrowed my boyfriend's Camaro and yes I
probably was going 36 miles an hour in a 25 mph zone but I didn't
notice because in my own car I would have had to shift to get there.
::shrug:: I think it got it knocked down from two points to one.
