im mostly playing devil's advocate here, because i also hate the minority interview thing...
....but if i'm in need of a head coach, i don't have to look any further than Crennel. Hell, I wish the Giants had hired him (or Charlie Weis) last year instead of that boob Coughlin. should they have interviewed a white coach? dunno. Detroit got in trouble for hiring Mariucci even though (afaik) they did make offers to interview minority coaches, but none of those coaches wanted to interview because they knew the Lions wanted Mooch and they didn't want to be 'tokens'. Frankly, good for them. Has nothing to do with Mariucci being white. Has to do with him being a good coach. Same with Crennel. Who cares if he's black or white (or red or yellow)? He's a good coach and arguably the "pick of the litter" right now. Same with Mariucci after SF let him go. I guess it's only a matter of time before teams have to interview an asian candidate, a native american candidate (especially if it's the Redskins looking for a coach), and a female candidate before they can 'legally' offer the job to somebody.
