I'm running FireFox with a number of extensions, the idle footprint is
around 13MB, Opera was around 15MB, IE, around 25MB.

I'll give FF and Opera a tie on that.

One thing I would greatly recommend is the web developer extensions, a lot
of great stuff there.

Other extensions I run (all available from the firefox site):

User Agent Switcher 0.6.1 (Don't use Often)
JavaScript Debugger 0.9.84
Tabbrowser Preference 1.2.2
BugMeNot 0.6.1
Sage 1.3 (Cool RSS Reader Add On, I highly recommend)
Abe Vigoda Status 1.0

When you click install theme it should install the theme, you may have to
restart firefox to use it, but I don't use themes so I don't know.
