Well, not really - particularly if you have nice trim you want to
keep. If you put up new wallboard over the existing wallboard, you
either have to remove all the trim and re-set it and risk the depth
not matching anymore, or you have to be lucky enough to have deep
enough trim such that it still "works" with an extra piece of trim to
cover the new seam. If you rip it all out, you're talking renting a
dumpster and possibly dealing with all the old insulation and such,
too. It's not a pretty picture (says the girl who dealt with 2 feet of
blown in attic insulation falling on her head).
