This is a favorite story from my high school years in small town Idaho.

Four hunters find themselves lost on a horseback trip with night approaching.
To survive they killed the horses and spent the night inside the
beast-of-burden's body cavities. They then managed to walk back to
civilization the next day. This would have been pretty heroic, except that the
night time temperature barely dipped into the upper 30F's. How unprepared of a
hunter do you have to be, that you could not survive a single night of 38
degree temperatures without killing your transportation?

If the temperaturs had been in single digits or coulder, and one had fallen
into water and there was no wood available to make a fire, then I would
understand a drastic measure like this. But a fairly mild, dry night, in a
forest with no emersion involved. Please!!!!
