I've seen four great shows in small venues. In 1980 I saw Deep Purple at a small club in Alaska. We were actually sitting at tables and ordering beers watching Deep Purple. Awesome show.
While in the Marines I was stationed at Ft. Sill Oklahoma for a few months and drove down from to Wichita Falls Texas to see the Clash in a what looked like a theater with the seats removed. I was standing in the front row when the bass player looked down and saw a button I was wearing that said "I hate people". He pointed at it and gave me a thumbs up. So I took it off and offered it to him. He stopped playing mid-song and reached down and took it from me. I'm a huge David Bowie fan and have seen him upwards of 10 times. But back in about 1997 my soon to be brother-in-law got me tickets to see Bowie with Tin Machine indoors at Kezar (probably misspelled) Stadium in San Francisco. That place couldn't have held more than a thousand people. You could walk up to the front of the stage at almost anytime without having to push and fight to get there. I thought I was in heaven. In the early 90's I caught Ice-T at the Classic Juke Box in Roseville California. After about my fourth or fifth Ice-T (it seemed like the right thing to be drinking) I jumped up on stage grabbed Ice-t's hat dove off the stage handed off the hat to my cousin and popped back up several feet away from where I dove into the audience but without the hat. So although security thought it was me I didn't have the hat so they just kept looking at me but didn't do anything. A great time was had by all. I still have the hat. Man what a great trip down memory lane.
