Something I can chime in on...

  I have a (actually 2) Takamine guitar. I think it's EFG-341c (or
something like that). Not one of the G-Series, one of the higher end
models. This was the "Garth Brooks / Bruce Springstein" model. In
addition to the peizo pickups, I added an internal microphone into the
guitar. So instead of one wire coming from me, I had two. Each "wire"
went into a Roland GP-100, with different processing for each signal. Out
of the GP into a Behringer mixer. Out of the mixer onto the board.

I got some real interesting sounds by putting effects on one channel
(such as distortion) and leaving the other channel clean. This was the
primary setup that I used for recording most of the guitars on my bands
albums. ( Including most of the distorted parts). Of course, it was all I
used gigging.

  I also have a Samick semi-hollow body electric. I don't use it much. I
also have a Lab Series L5 amp. It was one of the first solid state
amps. It is unique in that it offers a distortion channel. I think the
amp turns vintage this year. Generally I would only use the electric gear
for studio work.

I'm borrowing a Yamaha les paul style guitar from a client (Good
friend). I used it a lot when recording my bands next album.
