Well...Russell has his priorities in line I guess...... what really don't understand is where subscribing to the list is going to gain you a better review or not. if the list is dominating your life go digest and lurk til you have open cycles to particpate. I mean I program very little CF these days(mostly Flash,JSP, and XSLT) and I lurk on the list alot, but I do get valuable info from all of you and have made friends here as well,so Erika I see where you're coming from.
I'm not offended personally by his email I just found it rather melodramatic and almost odd in a way. maybe if I knew him I'd feel differently. Especially in this day and age of NON-loyalty when it comes to corporate business. He may get a better review next year, because he will have stayed off the list, but if a month or so from then, the company has financial troubles and lays off a load of people, performance reviews won't save him if his job is expendable. Whereas we'll always be here. That retreat didn't teach him the value of friendships or moderation, because like with food, lists need to be taken moderately. Willpower to not jump in on every conversation. To tell you the truth, I'm actually quite offended. By coming in here and telling us the way he did about why he left, leaves me with a sour taste in my mouth.
