You could do what I do - subscribe to the digest version of the list and check it first thing each morning over coffee. This way you can quickly scan all the messages from yesterday and by the time you read one that you want to respond to you figure the thread is so cold no one will read your response so you just don't bother to send one . . . :-) . . . the down side to this is that you feel more like a lurker than a member of the community. I switched over to digest several years ago when I got a call from the email police who wanted to know why I had so much incoming mail traffic (second out of 65k employees! - I wanted to know who #1 was but they wouldn't tell me).
