I have a couple of non-technical suggestions. The colours say "easter" to me. I don't think that's what you had in mind. If you like the seagull picture perhaps you good change the lavender to a blu-grey that matches it and the yellow to a foam white? Maybe?
I'm neutral on the bars. I don't dilike them but I don't know that they do much for you. My other suggestion related to your text. I like the wording quite a bit and I think you have a good pitch there. You do however have two comma slices, where a comma is used instead of a period. In the furst paragraph between "intimidating process" and "it's" and in the fourth paragraph between "this site" and "you." Hey, someone has to be the grammar police around here :P Seriously though, nice idea, try different colors.
