And what....exactly....did you presume they "try"? There seems to be this perception that science has all these miracle cures for people who are in persistent vegetative states, and that this guy has made some sort of decision to prevent his wife from receiving these miracle cures.
She's dead. Has been for a long time. The only "miracle" that science is performing right now is to keep her technically "alive". The request here is simply to remove this little science miracle and to let nature finish what it has already started. There are no miracle cures, and we evolved from monkeys.
