The system doesn't have the correct graphics driver loaded for the card if the
card is being recognised as VGA Adapter.

It is using the generic system VGA driver. It must look horrible ^_^.

In Device Manager do you have any warnings on the graphics card?

When you start the machine, with most graphics cards, it loads the card BIOS
somewhere in the top part of the screen.Well..with some graphics cards.

Otherwise, you need to open the machine, pull the card carefully out, check the
model etc. and then carefully put it back in.

REMEMBER TO GROUND YOURSELF BEFORE!!!

^_^

See if that helps. If it doesn't auto-recognise the card next time you boot
Windows, then you need to manually select the driver. Let us know what card it
is.
