Not sure how Hal's site would help someone find out about _becoming_
an instructor...

There are essentially 2 types of CF instructors. The Macromedia
Certified Instructors (MCI) who teach Macromedia's curriculum (Fast
Track To (Flash/ColdFusion/etc.) for instance) and unofficial
instructors who provide their own curriculum which is I believe the
category Hal falls into.

I've been looking into becoming an instructor (either variety) for a
while... Unfortunately what seems to be the case lately is that there
is only one kind of instructor -- those who were instructors before
the dot-com collapse. Since then with the industry hemhoraging, the
subordinate training industry has been dying. Nobody's paying for IT
like they did, so nobody wants to get into IT and as a result, there's
little or no work for instructors. The exceptions are those like Hal
who had existing training businesses which were popular enough to
survive the recession.

If you can find a Macromedia Training Partner (MATP) who is interested
in hiring you as an instructor, then you can get the MCI certification
once they hire you, though I've not had much luck with it myself. Not
in recent months anyway.

I'm hopeful that things will change and I'll be able to transition
myself into being an instructor in the future, though as of now my
efforts have been at a standstill for over a year.

Good Luck Hatton,
