Hmmm, in Indiana, we still have to pay book rental for our kids. It
costs us several hundres of $ each year for three kids. The sucky part
is that some books are so rare, in the school corp, that students are
not even assigned a book of their own. They have to share it.

To me, that is total bullshit! How can they charge us book rental when
we don't even see the damn book. That's like charging me a car payment
when I can't even drive the car.

Not only that, but students are required to bring in boxes of tissues,
for the entire class, dry erase markers and other supplies for the
teachers.

Both of my parents were teachers and, if the school corp didn't purchase
supplies, my parents either bought the supplies themselves or just did
without. Never were the students required to bring in supplies for use
by the teachers.

Oh, and don't get me started on the multitude of school projects and
dioramas (sp?) that are "required" and generally cost us about $20 each
just for the "best posterboard" and the other crap the teachers grade
on. I feel sorry for the kids who come from poorer families as they
can't afford those supplies on which they are graded.

Don't EVEN get me started on the teachers who get their jobs around here
only because they are willing to coach a sport. One of my girls'
teachers could not write a complete sentence without a single spelling
or grammatical error. My wife and I would look forward to these
"sent-home" announcements from this one teacher. She had the worst
spelling and grammer of anyone I knew. Yet, she got the teaching job
because she was cute and offered to coach girls volleyball.

In fact, she had signed on with the school corp before she had even
received her teaching degree. My wife tried, for years, with years of
experience, to get a full-time teaching job. Not a chance.

Stupid state of Indiana and their stupid education leaders. <aargh!!>

Have I made myself clear???!
