Ok this is a fast glance at the scan, and remember I have not done this for quite a while so please take what I say with more than a few thousand grains of salt. But here's my take on the scan:
prefrontal and frontal cortexes are mostly atrophied. These are mostly the controller systems in the brain and intentionality system. In other words no voluntary movement or behavior can be initiated. Significant parts of the personality is also largely associated with these areas, so what makes Terri Shiavo is no more most likely . The auditory and visual cortexes also show significant deterioration - these associative areas process vision and sound. Not that she is deaf or blind, rather the signals are getting through but there is very little there to process them into perceptions. Like many PVS there is also significant damage to the corpus callosum - the white line in the middle of the scan. The ventricles of the brain (the dark area in the middle) are enlarged. Overall significant and irreversible brain damage in the cortical areas. larry On Mon, 21 Mar 2005 14:35:52 -0600, Gruss Gott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Dana wrote: > > this is someone that has examined her?
