I think the reason that I left the Campaign Finance stuff out and the "let's do it to them" stuff is because its the fourth or fifth time that (very nearly) exact speech has been given and I have yet to see them do something about it without backing down.
First season, they decided to go on the offensive and got shut down two episodes later with a compromise cause somebody had some dirt somewhere... Second season, plenty of rhetoric, all backed up with an extreme willingness to compromise. more realistic to depict compromise? absolutely! Do they run the risk of being marginalized as "preachy" if they don't compromise? sure!
