Well they're spendy, but I stayed at the Ritz and the Park Hyatt. The
Ritz was pretty good if it's in your price range, but beware that
parking alone was $57 per day and breakfast was like $35 - so it's a
little spendy.

The Park Hyatt is a good hotel compared to other choices, but for Park
Hyatts it's the worst one I've stayed at. That being said I'd still
stay there again, but I wouldn't pay rack rates. Put another way,
it's a damn nice hotel just not as nice some of their other properties
such as Chicago or Tokyo.

One thing the Park Hyatt really has going for it is location - it's
right by everything but just far enough away that you don't get the
noise or problems. If you stayed there you definitely wouldn't need a
car except maybe to go to up to Marin or down to Half Moon Bay and, if
so, the downtown Enterprise is walkable or you can take BART or Muni.

>From the PH you can walk to everything - Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf,
etc and the Ferry Building is only 4 blocks away. It's also by this
little ally with lots of restaurants called Belden Place I think.

Call me goofy, but I could've hung out at the Ferry Building the whole
time. They had a great Wine bar and I met lots of interesting people
just sitting at the bar. If you head north from the Ferry building on
Embarcadero there's all kinds of stuff to stop at from a circus to
little "ole salty" bars

Also the PH Concierge was excellent! In my opinion, staying at a more
expensive hotel is worth it if only for that. Other hotels have them,
but they aren't connected like the ones you'll find in Park Hyatt,
Four Seasons, etc. For example, let's say you want a table for 2 at a
famous restaurant but it was booked 3 weeks ago. No problem, they'll
usually be able to get you in.

I spent about an hour with Steve who helped make the most of time. He
had huge books of menus and flyers from every type of anything you'd
want. He even called ahead to many places to let the owners know I
was coming and what I might like. When I got there they'd usually
help me themselves. For me this service really adds to my vacation.

So, I'd recommend the Park Hyatt, but see if you can find a corporate,
educational, or AAA rate; something in the low to mid 200s would be
fair IMO. Please let me know what you do and how you like it! I'm
kinda hooked now.
