The April issue of Scientific American has a really good overview article convering spam and methods to stop it (and methods to get around those methods).
It's a seven page article and covers most every aspect of the issue at least somewhat. There are also some really great information graphics (including, I think, an especially good one concerning multiple anti-spam efforts). The authors are all Microsoft Engineers (those that work in spam issues for Outlook, Exchange, Hotmail, etc). If you're interested in the topic (or want a good article to pass out to those that ask you about spam) it's an excellent read.
