Walmart has never really figured out this market. Costco does a better job, and
actually targets relatively high-end consumers who want quality products. Did
you know that Costco is the largest retailer of diamonds in the country? My
point is that if you want to shop at a discount store, just shop at Walmart or
Target. If you are looking to by some stuff a little more upmarket, Costco is
the way to go.

Here in California, Costco can sell alcohol, and they carry lots of it,
especially California wines. They carry everything from jug wine to $100/bottle
Far Niente and Dom Perignon. My experience with Sam's has been that they don't
sell higher end products like that. Maybe someone else knows better what Sam's
is doing today.
