I've tried a lot of these devices but they all sucked to varying degrees.
I've done a review of the one I've settled on here:

http://www.depressedpress.com/depressedpress/Content/AfterHours/Hodgepodge/A
VELLinkPlayer/Index.cfm

It's not wireless (although a wireless version is due out) but video sucks
over wireless anyway (and since this thing does HD video it would suck even
more). However since it can read directly off a CD/DVD or USB drive you
don't technically even need it networked.

The player deals with everything I throw at it and HD video off UseNet looks
un-freakin'-believable. WMV/WMA/DIVx/xVid/MPEG1/MPEG2/MP3 are all supported
directly and anything else is supported indirectly via an on-the-fly
directshow conversion server.

I've only had the player for a few months but we've already gotten three
firmware updates.

Very highly recommended.
