The parents have been fighting him for years which would be fine if they were civil, but you never saw them defend his character and they may have made allegations (I don't know). In any event I wouldn't feel too benevolent towards people who I felt: A.) Weren't respecting their daughter's wishes, B.) Weren't respecting me, and C.)
