After clearing out my storage unit, I came to the realization that 2 years in Texas heat are not good for stereo speakers. The rubber surrounds had deteriorated around the woofers of my favorite Toby speakers. Given that they're large (3.5'x1'x1') and ugly laminate brown and my wife's distaste for them visually, I decided they had seen their last days. I moved them to the "to burn" pile in my garage. On the way out the door today I looked at them and thought what a waste it seemed to burn them, afterall, in the 90's these things were going for $1100 for the pair. So I posted them on the freecycle list. 5 minutes later and I someone reply to my e-mail. 30 seconds after that, they sent another e-mail with their phone # asking me to call. This guy was so excited about getting these speakers. He went on and on about how he actually knew Toby and repairing them wouldn't be hard and blah blah blah. It made my day to make his :)
