They haven't done anything with it yet. They're still trying to pass the
slots law to allow it in the state of KS. to gamble with slot machines.
Haven't really been following it too much, but I think it will pass
eventually. The local chamber here told me they've been trying to get it to
be used for something in education. I thought it was silly when they first
starting building it considering you can't play slots and two casinos are
near by. Just over the border in O.K. there is a casino. People from
Joplin won't go to Pittsburg when highway 44 doesn't go north yet.

They are changing that two. Highway 69 is almost a 4 lane highway from
Fort Scott up to KC. A lot of local business people are putting up a good
amount of cash to increase the highway to go all the way from KC down to 44
just south of Baxter Springs.

Just about a month ago the historic downtown of Fort Scott burned down
in a fire that started in the basement of some bar. Still haven't heard if
anything that was arson related. One of the guys at Mt Carmel (local
hospital) was a volunteer fire fighter and we were in a meeting regarding
their new website www.mtcarmel.org when he got the call. Apparently most of
the historic downtown was lost, but they say they are going to try and
re-build most of it. We'll see.

Matt
