That was me - I'm not ashamed to say that I share office space with an
accountant and insuarnce agent for a reason.  I've brought in tech to
the office; when I moved in here there were three copper phone lines
and a DSL internet connection.  Now we have a 5 line VoIP virtual
office provided by Packet8.  There was no network to speak of; right
now I'm working on building a network based backup procedure for the
respective businesses.  We have a mutual agreement.

That's not to say that we don't exchange money as well - I pay the
accountant every month for rent and bill him for his portion of the
internet connection.  I actually charged him for his website but at a
discounted rate.  He charged me for my taxes but doesn't make me pay
for the payroll services I was using.

I've bartered car work for web work, web work for graphics works...
it's a way to get things done when there's the advantage to doing it
that way.
