And look what will happen. There's going to be a federal election in a few months and the Liberal Party may be turfed out. Then again it may not be. It depends on who get the greater number of seats. Given that the Conservatives are rapidly approaching being disliked in their powerbase its a tossup.
A parliament system is far more responsive to the public than the US system. People belive that their participation is far more meaningful and has much more impact when they are electing their local MP than when they may be only a vote among millions, rather than among hundreds or thousands. Besides that scandal is old news. It broke over two years ago. There has been a crown commission investigating it and it delivered its report. If the same happened in the US with the Republicans, they would have just changed the ethics rules, tried to distract the public with a false issue, and then threatened judges whom they disagreed with.
