I can't find anything that backs your numbers, they seem highly exaggerated. Even if true, it just seems odd to through out a derogatory statement like that for no reason.
I don't think accusing someone of spousal abuse is a serious charge. Don't you become an accessory if you don't report suspicion of child abuse?
