I agree - but the effect of that on the economy really hasn't been shown
yet.

I personally think that this is a "bad thing", but it might turn out to be a
good thing (or just come out as a complex wash).

With so much military spending we're seeing a lot of jobs requiring
clearance - which generally means jobs requiring American citizens rather
than offshore workers (offshoring is, I think, one of the major economic
problems we have today).

Of course the war is also clearly a mitigating factor in oil and gas prices
which have been hurting spending.

Those are just examples, but my point is that the actual economic impact of
the spending hasn't yet set in and could god either way (although again, my
prediction is that it will have an overwhelmingly negative impact).

The spending, at this point, is just that: spending.  We've yet to really
see whether it was a waste or an investment.  Personally I would have seen
that money stay here, but I'm not sage enough enough to claim that would be
best (the best I can do is pull out clich�s and say "a bird in the hand...).
