I don't think they're sticking their heads in the sand, I think they're saying: 1.) SS won't go underwater for a few years while Medicare/Medicaid is already underwater, 2.) the President and Congress are exacerbating the problem with out-of-control spending due to no pay-go rules, and 3.) Private accounts don't do anything to solve anything so why are we talking about them? Politically the Democrats have no choice except to oppose Mr. Bush's proposal and hope it fails thus creating an opening for them to push forward something. The problem is, they've yet to define something and they may not even have anything in the works. If we remove the political grandstanding the truth is neither party are doing anything and haven't done anything for 20 years. Before we go congratulating Republicans let's remember that the reason the IOUs are being written is because they designed legislation that spent more than the country makes and Mr. Bush signed it into law. It's a little like neglecting to weed your lawn and then chastising your neighbors because of the weed problem. If you want to hold someone accountable for the mess, it would be just about every elected federal politician for the last 25 years. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Get the mailserver that powers this list at http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=17 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:154899 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
