Excellent write up!  All true, and it shows how the spike-the-trees
environmentalism is asinine.  There is an economy and people do need
resources.  The trick is to understand markets and put the incentives
in the right place to make things happen.

If environmentalists really want to change the world, they would put
their efforts into providing real alternative or at least prescribing
courses of action to real alternatives.
