This is yet another example of why as long as I have other options I
will NEVER use a utility company (phone, cable, etc) for my internet
access.  I don't care how much speed they promise you or how much of a
"deal" the service is, I've never met a utility company who
particularly cares about customer service or quality of service until
they start losing customers over it (alot of customers).

As Ben suggested, if you have control over your email server, try
switching to port 2525 or some other port and using that instead. 
Port blocking is pretty easy to get around.
