There's a difference between what I think and what the ACLU is doing -
that being said here's my call.

A better example than Christmas lights is a nativity scene.  Can you
have one in your front yard?  Sure!  As long as I can have Menorahs
and unless your neighborhood association forbids it (mine doesn't but
I can't have weeds).

What you can't do is, say, hold a Christian church service in a public
park.  Why not?  Because that's a public space paid for by citizens
and maintained by the gov't.  You could have a church BBQ though, or a
church recreation event.

It's simple, really.  If it's public it can't be used for religion but
that doesn't mean people of religion can't use it.
