I'm talking production and sales numbers. I see a heck of a lot more
of Dodge Mangums than Prisuses and the numbers, I'm sure, prove that
out.

I'm fairly certain this isn't true. There's a very small market for
fuel efficient cars and a slightly larger one for Hybrid cars (since
it sounds good). There are waiting lines because the production
numbers are purposely kept small to fool people into thinking there's
a high demand and therefore want one (It's the auto equivalent of the
limited movie release).

No, it means that people are fooled into thinking this is a "green"
direction because it's a "hybrid" as if the extrapolation of the
concept will somehow be "green". It isn't thus the herring.

The extrapolation of the concept is a dead end since electricity has
to be produced somewhere and even if we figure out a clean way to do
that the market will never be there unless electric cars can provide
the same performance as petrol.

A much higher likelihood is that ethanol or NG replaces petrol in part
or whole until bio-diesel or ethanol is viable (not dependant on oil).
None of that involves hybrid technology nor, in my opinion, should
it.
