When the maintenance people left a stain on our rug and then blamed it on us I cut a piece of the rug out in a 1 foot by 1 foot section, went to the carpet store and said "find me a match". They had a roll that was 99% like the one I brought in.... they cut me a scrap and said good luck. I glue it into place and sprayed the replaced piece as well as a few feet around with resolve and soaked the hell out of it... it nicely faded a little and no one was the wiser.
