I have a tree in my yard that has those ugly cocoon-looking things that
have the caterpillars that are going to turn into gypsy moths soon. I
have been told the only way to get rid of them is to pull the nasty
things out of the tree and burn them in a metal bucket. Since that is
uber-gross, has anyone ever dealt with these before, and if so, do you
HAVE to do it that way? In this day and age, I can't believe that there
isn't some spray chemical out there....

I remember my Dad burning tons of these things one summer as a kid. It
was the most disgusting thing I have seen, and I'd love to avoid it.
