There really wasn't anything much dealt with regarding the ex and her
new husband. The episode centered on the 3 stories, each of which
apparently reprensented House himself when he was a patient. Doc
Cuddy (sp?) suggested they amputate his leg, which he vehemently
disagreed with. He was told that even if they didn't amputate, he'd
be in chronic unbearable pain for the rest of his life. He still said
"pshaw" (I paraphrase). There was a "middle ground" where they would
remove the necrotic tissue and he would get to keep the leg, but
chances were against it ever being functional. Again, he said nay.

He then asked to be put into a chemical-induced coma (I've been in a
few of those during college...very fun) in order to get some rest
because the pain was so unbearable. At this point, Sela Ward had...I
forget the exact title, but essentially had the right to make medical
decisions on his behalf since he was now incapacitated...and she chose
to go the 'middle ground' (remove the dead muscle/tissue). Cuddy
(again, sp?) told her that she was "saving his life", but she said he
wouldn't see it that way.

So anyway, his lecture to the class was actually about himself
(Foreman, Chase, and Cameron ended up sitting in towards the end, as
well as the other doc...the oncologist guy). I suppose that during
the lecture he came to the realization that Sela -did- in fact save
his life, and after class, on his way back to the office, he called
her and said, "bring your husband in tomorrow."

End of episode.

All in all, a very good episode with some fantastic acting by Hugh
Laurie. Hard enough to pull off a foreign accent...harder still when
you're acting as if you're in intense, unbelievable pain but still
need to maintain the accent). It also seemed to give his 'team' a
little bit of insight into his past and why he's such a bitter man.

Really looking forward to the season finale (which will be bittersweet
since it also means I'll have to wait until Sept for more House
episodes).
